Article Writing Software - What You Need to Know
71Looking for software to write your articles for you? Article writing software is a popular request as many people struggle to write articles - but the sad truth is that you already own the best article software money can buy - the stuff that resides between your ears!
In this hub I want to look at first why we all want to write more and more articles, and then secondly how we can write articles more quickly and efficiently while still providing an appropriate level of quality. Thirdly I will look at some article writing "software" which will speed up the process - but its probably not what you think - read on to find out more!
Why Write Articles?
There are many reasons that we write articles online. I write articles to provide backlinks and gain traffic for my main sites. I also have to write the content for those sites as well. I earn income from my articles both directly (for example here on hubpages and on infobarrel) and also indirectly from articles on sites such as EzineArticles.
Anyone can write any article given an infinite amount of time. Unfortunately none of us have that luxury of infinite time and the trick to earning an online income is to not just write articles but to write articles fast.
As with any skill - the more articles you write the faster and better you will become at it.
What Type of Article Works
Before you start to write your article you need to know what keywords you are using for the article - or at least your topic! Keep your articles focused and don't make them too long. A supporting article should probably ideally be between 300 and 400 words - for an article on your own site anywhere from 400 to 2000 words will work depending on your approach to article content.
The most important thing about your article is your keywords - your keywords will determine how easy it will be rank your article in the search engines and what type of competition you are against in advance.
Once you know your topic then the next important item for your article is your title - its the title that your potential readers will see first be it in an article directory or a search engine result listing - you need to have a "hook" in your title to encourage potential readers to click through to your article.

Volume Is Key with Article Writing
Frankly writing just one article to support your site or your hubpage - is just a waste of time. Instead you need to write five or ten or even twenty articles spread over a number of sites.
This amount of volume scares some people - but its not so difficult. First off you need to be able to type well - or use a dictation program if your typing skills aren't good (or your hands are getting sore!)

I own this course and yes is I can write unique, quality articles in 7 minutes! In takes some practice to get to that speed and you will need either good typing skills or dication software but its a useful course for anyone new to article writing!
Writing Many Articles Fast
How do you write so many articles on a similar topic though? Well its not that difficult - think about how newspapers and broadcast news will tell the same story over and over again just using different words - well you can use that same approach.
Say I want to write about learning to fly fish - how could I change that around to make more than one article?
Well obviously we would start with "How to Learn To Fly Fish", then we can look at some obvious variations on this theme:

The really powerful thing with this approach of writing a number of related articles is that you can also use the same basic research to write each article - but still produce unique articles. No software required! In fact taking this approach can actually be quicker than using traditional "article spinners" - and is far more likely to provide quality, unique content.
So there you have it - yes I've tried the traditional articles spinners and other short-cuts to writing content. However I have never found an automated solution which provides good enough copy for my websites and places like HubPages which have humans as readers. I found the approach in the recommended ebook and video worked for me and is probably what you would learn in a being jouranlism class - its just I've never been to writing school so I found it helpful .

Hey Lissie. So, essentially what you are saying is that I got to do the thinking and write the article, and that there is no super dupper article spinner that can do it for me.
But that's work! :(
Maybe there really is an article spinner that costs next to nothing, writes better than TS Elliot, and will make you a ton of money with just a click of the button. Maybe you haven't looked hard enough? :)

Tell you what though when I find that mythical article spinner I won't be broadcasting it to the world LOL - not everything I do requires great content - some just requires lots of links - either way its lots of work!

In fact I have sold some articles and yes, they were variations on the same theme. Worked beautifully. A few years ago I got $35.00 for one article, then $500.00 for the next and $35.00 for a third. They went to 3 entirely different magazine audiences all based on financial instruments.

I have Naturally Speaking and I find I type faster than I talk. All of your points are well taken and one of these days I'll stop writing articles off the top of my head and actually try to write one properly.

@Pete I've never used dication myself as I type at over 80wpm and have done since I was a teenager. Some people seem to find the typing thing a barrier and I everyone who is looking for that type of software agrees that Dragon is the best of breed.

Thanks for the great info, Lissie. I have written some articles and gotten traffic to my hubs and other sites for them. Trouble is volume - I haven't written enough to make a big difference. Think I need to start burning some midnight oil!
I made the huge mistake of purchasing some article writing software a few years ago. It never worked (at all!) and the vendor would not refund the purchase price. I then got some free software but that was next to useless as well. I really no longer care whether I make any money or not - the experiences of learning and sharing are enough.
Thanks for this Lissie - I came across hubpages when I was looking for places to write articles to promote my website....then I got addicted to HP! Now I'm looking for places to write articles to promote my hubpages. I'm gearing up to writing 3 articles outside of HP for each of my hubs. I write quite slowly so this is going to be tough for me, but I know it will pay off. I shall not be bothering with article writing software - the amount of editing the articles would need to make them any good just doesn't make it a timesaving option, lol :)

Hi Lissie! Good hub. I'm with you on the 7 minute article technique. It definitely sped up my article writing. I then got lazy with it, and didn't learn more than one or two of its techniques... this hub reminds me to look at it again, and also to try out some of that dictation software. I feel like I could write a ton of stuff once I mastered the dictation software!

I've got 155 articles published on Ezine articles and to give you an example, I've just launched a new product and site.
I've written 5 articles around keywords associated with those articles and at least three of those articles now rank on the first page of google.
One of the keywords I was using had something like 274 million competing sites and yet within one day I was ranking around the 5th position.
I can write and should do more! Like the ideas you have on purely changing the theme of your title that litle bit so that you can rewrite the same content, but just in different words.

Great Hub! I write articles to build back links and it's been a big help. Having said that, I'm obviously doing it wrong. You point of writing titles before articles will help speed up the process. I'm going to try it on my next article and a couple of my older articles. Thanks for the help!

I am only one month into online writing and the idea of writing 5-10 or 20 articles to promote each hub is overwhelming! I did write one article for Ezine based on comments you have written here and TKA forum. So far that is all I have done. Time to get busy writing and finding some other sites to post to as well. Inititally, I was not sure if you could write on multiple sites on the same topics etc. As long as the words are not the same, you can.
Infobarrel, and ezine seem like good places to write. Infobarrel offers adsense revenue sharing. Ezine does not offer adsense, but I could prob use it for my new website or something.
I'll take a look at some article directories, and see if I can find the ones that are best for me.
