HubPages for Internet Marketing
94Hubpages the New Squidoo?
I have seen some comments recently about using Squidoo and increasingly HubPages for Internet Marketing - there is more and more talk about HubPages in the Internet Marketing forums so I thought I would get in first.
Unfortunately most of the people who join HubPages for Internet marketing purposes get themselves banned in short order - why? They don't understand Hubpages and more importantly the Hubpages community. So if you would like to know how not to get your hubs flagged and yourself banned please keep reading. If you are already happy at HubPages but would like to make more money keep reading too - its a jungle out there you have to be careful!

Internet Marketing - A Dodgy Industry !
I have attempted to make a full-time living on the Internet via Internet Marketing and have so far failed to make any significant money. I did a lot research though and read a lot of blogs and learnt a lot about SEO and backlinks and Google Page Rank and whole lot of other stuff I didn't know before.
I also found a huge amount of rubbish out there - just Google "make money online" if you don't believe me. A lot of people make money off other people's desperation to be self-employed and I find that despicable. It made me question the whole Internet marketing industry - some of which got in early and are now some of the "big names" who now make a fortune trading on those names selling "their secret" invariably selling information which either available for free or no longer works because the Internet moves on so quickly. Even worse every second person who decides to make an income online starts in the niche of - you guessed it - on-line marketing - so they charge people to sell stuff that doesn't even work for them!
So as a public service for anyone who is considering learning how to make a full-time income on the Internet: - please start with the 3 blogs listed to the right: these guys appear to be for real. They are very different they don' t always agree - but you can read and learn for FREE! And no none of them pay me anything.
Warning - bloggerunleased is a video blog and the language is anglo-saxon, I would say not for family consumption but most kids use that language - just not in front of their parents - so you have been warned!

What do I know about HubPages and Internet Marketing
So who the hell is Lissie and why should you read anything I write here? I've been on Hubpages since about Sept 2007. I have a consistently had a high author hubscore (this is important see below) and have made some income by writing in their Flagship Hub program where they pay authors for hubs written on a specific topic and to a specified standard. In a recent contest here my hubs were picked for the best fo the day. I believe that I have been reasonably successful on HubPages as an author, and it's my only site where my income goes up every month!
What is HubPages
It's similar but different from Squidoo. Like Squidoo it provides a platform where you can publish a webpage. They share revenue from Adsense, Amazon and Ebay sales.
Technically there are of course differences, Squidoo is the earlier site and HubPages was established presumably with a business plan to take Squidoo on in a similar market. If you are familiar with one getting up to speed on the other is not difficult.
There is however a very important difference: HubPages does not allow overally promotional hubs. That is if your hub is just an advertisement for another site/E-Book/off line business it will get flagged and you will eventually get banned if you don't play by the rules.

HubPages: How not to get Banned
Now its not difficult to setup a hub - click "create new hub" set a name and URL, enter some tags click continue open up the text capsule cut and paste some text, hit save and then click publish. That's it. So please don't buy the $40 E-Book that will show you how to do this - I wish I was joking! Not even if its a special one time price of $10! There are heaps of good hubs on the mechanics of hubbing!
However if you actually want your hub to last more than a day or 2 before it gets flagged as spam, and you want to build your reputation as a HubPages author so that your hubs are actually read you might want to try the following steps:
- Join up - if you haven't already feel free to follow the link and let me earn my %!
- Fill in your profile information - if you don't bother to add a photo, a profile and indicate where you live it doesn't sound like you are serious about being at HubPages. Also you are missing an opportunity to promote your other sites. Also if you get a decent author score you will also get a decent page rank on your the profile page too.
- Write a hub. Follow the rules - don't spam. Unlike Squidoo your hub cannot be just a promotion for your Clickbank product, E-book or other website. It has to be a complete article in itself - it has to contain useful and unique content. You can still have links - but make sure they are relevant and you cannot link more than twice to the same domain. The reader shouldn't HAVE to follow the link to get value from your article.
- A hub isn't just a plain text article. Well not if you want most people to read it it's not. Most people scan most easily a narrow column of text, so write in 2 columns or use links and other capsules to squeeze your text column. Don't link to the same domain more than twice in a hub. A cloaked link will count as a link to the same domain.
- Add at least 1 photo: the first photo will show in your summary on pages such as "hot" "latest" "best" hubs - if you don't have a photo then your profile photo will be used, if you don't have one of those either you are telling me I can't be bothered to read your hub.
- Use at least 2 text capsules - usually lots more. If you only use 1 the second Adsense block will fall right at the bottom of the hub, below the fold. It also makes it easier to make the hub look attractive.
- Don't publish 24 hubs in the first 24 hours. And don't use an article re-writing software to re-write the same article 24 times and publish it 24 times with different titles. The machine may think it's different - humans can tell its the same. By monitoring the "hubtivity"page those same humans can monitor and flag you.
- Don't write a hub and then go the forums and post : I just wrote my first hub what do you think? Particularly don't do this when you haven't even bothered to spell-check your work. Your profile shows that you joined 2 hours ago and that this is your first forum post - why would I care about your hub? If instead you contribute to the forums, or leave a comment on someone else's hub, or become their fan then they may well feel inclined to comment on our hub.

A Promotional Hub which obeys the TOS
The link to the right is a hub I wrote promoting another site of mine. It fulfils both the letter and the spirit of the HubPages TOS. it's a complete article which adds value for the reader even if they don't click the link. There are only 2 links to the domain in question. The photos are relevant and entertaining (IMHO!) There are other relevant quality links (down the bottom I don't necessarily want to loose my buyer to them! ) and a news feed which keeps the article updated automatically.
Interesting footnote: I had the site promoted by this hub up for a week before I wrote the hub and it was still not indexed in google. A few hours after publishing the hub the site had 8 pages indexed in the big G .... coincidence?
- How Hubscore Works
All this information is available around HubPages, in the FAQ or in some cases discussed further in the forum. But rather than send you off on a wild goose chase to find it all I've collated the information...
What is a Hubscore
An Author has a hubscore - see mine by looking at my picture on the top right of this hub. It varies but is over 90. When you first start yours will be low and change a lot as you publish more hubs. My hubscore moves between 94 and 98 usually and is therefore reasonably stable.
Each Hub also has a Hubscore is the number in red to the right of the title. The hubscore of a hub starts low -this hub started at 48 when i published it - its probably higher now. I've had some hubs hit 100 and others never make it past 60 - it mostly depends on the traffic.
Hubscore and Back Links
Hubscore important because if you are using HubPages for backlinks because HubPages themselves say: "We've recently taken the step of applying NOFOLLOW to the links in hubs that have a HubScore below 50, and to all the hubs of authors with an author score below 75."
How to Increase your Hub Scores.
- Search for some hubs on a similar topic to yours - write a sensible comment on them - do NOT add the link of your hub -your profile will link to it anyway. Look for hubs and hubbers with higher scores - commenting on them will increase your author score.
- Drive some traffic to your hub - this makes the most difference to your hubscore.
- In my experience being helpful in the forums seems to get you fans, fans not only increase your hubscore but a fan is emailed everytime you create a new hub - you get more readers. Then tend not to be the readers who will make you money but they will email your hub to their friends and the traffic will still up your hub's hubscore too.
Warm fluffy Picture
HubPages has something to Offer You
As an internet marketer HubPages has a lot to offer - in particular any hub I write is generally indexed in google within 24 hours - sometimes in 12! I get good page rank on my older pages and I get lots of backlinks - the internal backlinks seem to work very well at hubpages.
Hubpages lets you test out keywords with no cash down. HubPages will even give you some promising keywords if you think about who is asking in the requests section and the flagship section!
HubPages lets you get way, way off topic - every IM expert on blogs will tell you to keep your blog focussed - well mine isn't and I can assure you it doesn't pay! Here in HubPages I write on a variety of topics and I am rewarded for it - that's nice.
It has some downsides - after all its not your site. You can't control where the Adsense links show on your page yieldbuild does that. You can' t write about gambling or adult themes - I think Adsense bans those topics as and HubPages makes money from Adsense they ban them too.

Great hub Lissie, thanks for showing us before its too late. How to do it without making the mistakes. I needed something like this before I started.
It should be very helpful to the newbies too.
Great hub Lissie! I am one of those who are not here to make money so I appreciate the helpful tips to newbies that come running through and splash their money making links all through the hubtivity! LOL. Out of over 70 hubs, I have 1 that is commercial and it was an answer to a request for an MLM you are involved in. Didn't make sense to profile the business with no link so I put 1 at the bottom. Other than that, I try to keep my self serving links in my profile. If they want to find out about it, they'll find it. Just seems to work better for me and I can concentrate on the writing at hand. You have some great hubs and I always look forward to reading them. Keep up the great work!
Bonnie
Excellent hub like always, Lissie! If I only would have enough time to write all these hubs that are floating around as ideas in my head ;-) SY
Lissie, thanks for putting HubPages in a perspective a newbie such as myself can understand. Your words about building credibility as an auther (using a photo in your profile, commenting on others' hubs, being helpful in forums) are especially valuable. Not to mention the links to your three trusted blogs. I'll be working on a personal HPfIM lesson plan in short order!
Thanks for that excellent review about Hubpages Lissie. I've linked to this post from my blog article. This is exactly the kind of info my readers can use. Thanks again Lissie and best of luck.
great article lissie. You hit the point in every part of your article, and this very good advices. Than you!
Great hub as always Lissie. Thanks for sharing your information and the advice.
regards Zsuzsy
Great hub! I enjoy your candor and expertise in this arena. I didn't come to HubPages for the money. A little over $6.00 doesn't put much gas in the car anymore.
What I did come here for is to write about things I like, know a little about, and become an active member. HubPages is a great forum!
I just commented on the next page over. Call me Mr. Duh. I'll kind of repeat what I wrote. I like the information and everything, but with 3 blogs I'm active with and getting ready to start a 4th, when will I find the time?
"I'll be working on a personal HPfIM (HubPages for Internet Marketing) lesson plan in short order!" (I should have said "my" instead of "a".)
I just couldn't resist making an acronym out of your cool title! :)
Great Work Lissie
Found your site when I was reading Grizz site about Hubpages. This is something new for me, still grasping all the info you wrote here! Great piece of work!
Great info Lissie!
Thanks for the great info. I would give it two thumbs up, but they only let me give one.
Spot on, Lissie!
This is a great page, I think I read an article of yours posted on another blog... certainly it was the blogs you link to that lead me here, so I figure it was your post I read.
The points you make are spot on:
"so they charge people to sell stuff that doesn't even work for them!"
I gave up reading "Take Money Online" blogs some time ago, but I am subscribed to a couple of the ones you mention, its about time the scammers were called out.
"the language is anglo-saxon"... another good line ;-)
Hi Lissie, glad to make your aquantance!
I dont like putting my pic online... a privacy thing... and I really like boxers!
Yeah those video posts are a pain, I prefer to read, but its his blog to do with as he chooses and the content is good.
Its about time people started bringing the "Take Money Online" snake oil crew to task!
But, in my experience IM blogs call scams out routinely to gain trust with their readers before hitting them with a scam of their own... hopefully these blogs are different!
I appreciate your knowledge in this field. I have been reading about the backlinks and how they work. Now others will understand the concept. There are so many blogs out there that are not even worth reading. Somepeople start on a topic and never finish it or they are just trying to advertise products.
Blogging is the way now and has started to overtake PPC's for even the top internet marketers.
Let us all work on better, more insightful blogs, like yours!
Sandi
Not sure blogs are overtaking PPC... but they are very useful for sure ;-)
Great Hub Lissie, good to see someone else from the school of Grizz, Vic and Court. I would suggest everyone to check out Blogger Unleashed, Vic is a riot.
I'm new to HubPages today...and want to express my appreciation for your hub.
Thanks, Lissie... you are a huge contribution!!~~Mary K
That's a lot of information in a simplest way, i am just wondering how you are able to cover up everything in a flip flop way, it's nice.think must have had good experience as secretary;-) Yes, you are very right, people when they are running craze may forget the rules just keeping only the red ribbon in sight, spoiling the entire race, your hub is of fantastic information as you rightly mentioned for those who are preparing a swim and for those who are already in the deep, its an ocean where we need to be cautioned now and then, this time by you . Thanks, Lissie. And you too Inspirepub.
Excuse me Lissie, for using your hub space to thank Inspirepub, because every-time when i want to comment her post , I am not in a position to, she is so great in her writing, thank you both for your splendid job.
Dear Lissie; It is a good point of view that you have explained in your hub above. But it appears only beginning of 'what you can share here' Please do write more on the topic which you have made intertesting and I look forward for your next writing on the issue.
Thanks
Mahendr Singh
Thank you Lissie, this information is invaluable for a new member of HubPages - like me.
Viv
Nice Hub Lissie, Thanks for Sharing!
Your hub is better than the $9.95 eBook I bought about hubpages (at the time I had not heard of it). So, yes, I fell victim to that.
Great information, so helpful.
Thank you.
Hey Lissie,
Thanks for this hub! It was introduced to me from Grizzly's How to Make Money Online, and thanks to you, I've started out my first HubPages!
Its great to hear about the realities of the Internet Marketing business, as there are so much false and misleading information out there. Hope you can continue with your great work!
Thank you!
Awesome resource. Lissie. And thanks for the type via your comment at Blogger Unleashed. I sure don't want to get any of my hubs flagged, I just wanted to highlight some posts from Vic's blog. An RSS module does that well enough. Again, thanks.
Very interesting article and I think that soon I will be putting this into practice.
Another excellent Hub, Lissie, to guide and protect us. This is another reason I'm an avid fan of yours. And yes, you and a couple of others on Hubpages give guidance in how to create hubs, for which we relative newcomers are very grateful! Wise words - People do need to understand the culture and subtleties, as well as concrete guidelines, of a community before diving into the deep waters. And we're all tired of being scammed and spammed. Hubpages is a clean oasis in the midst of madness.
But "internet marketing" is really only ONE (multifaceted) avenue among many for gaining visibility and traffic for a legitimate business. (Key - "legitimate business") Like any tool, it's effects are good or bad according to the intents, purposes, and execution of the user. My interest is in helping caregivers, but I have lost $thousands trying to discover the best ways to reach them. And yes, too much of the environment is IM'ers selling to wanna-be's.
That being said, I have found some fabulous, ethical guys out there who have legitimate businesses and teach appropriate ways to use the various tools - the right way, no spamming, in a win-win personal or business situation that helps people. People such as Ken MacArthur ("Impact") with a giving heart and keen mind. People such as the brilliant minds in StomperNet and Smarts. To stay on top of what's happening out there - new social sites you might want to visit and late-breaking internet news - there's Brad Fallon's daily video "The Freeline Report" - web 2.0 in under 2.0 minutes. Don't overlook Paul Colligan for excellent information on podcasting and ubersyndication, or helpful Sherman Hu for blogging, video, and more.
So there are some good guys and some helpful resources among all the noise, confusion, and abundant hype. And the good guys say what Lissie just did - Do not SELL on Hubpages, do add unique and valuable content, be a good member of the community, don't link spam (but do share helpful links as resources, as Lissie did above)... be honest, helpful, real... and if people like you and what you have to say, they will find you and want to do business with you.
A great hub Lissie with wise advice!
You want to talk about this *desperate buyers* syndrome...check this out - it makes me sick.
http://www. desperatebuyersonly. com/
I put in the spaces in the link so she doesn't get any MORE coverage!!
"Desperate people - people with throbbing problems, pressing issues, and insane drives - buy on impulse. Desperate people buy on impulse because they're in an emotionally charged state-of-mind or state-of-being and they want to get out of it.
So when you create information products for desperate people, you change the dynamics from being the person who's doing the chasing - (as you have to do when selling a typical how-to product) - to becoming the person who's constantly being chased."
PLEASE do NOT buy this **guide** - it SUCKS - not worth 10 cents.
Great hub thanks for the info
Hey Lissie, I just followed your link from your comment on Tiffany's rant about you on the Warrior Forum. *g* Great hub!
Thanks Lissie! I'm rather new to hubpages and learned more about it through this hub. It was informative and helpful.
Blessings,
Jean
Good Advice! I'm new to hubbing and this whole Web 2.0 deal. I bookmarked one of my hubs and I am just testing to se what will happen.
Gee, Lissie, I didn't see the Warrior Forum post referenced above. No time to go there and wade through stuff.
However, I have observed that Tiffany Dow is a great copywriter who has worked behind the scenes for many, many "authors" and marketers. I have seen a lot of her work - really helpful, well researched, well written, engaging articles and pages. I have heard reports of how she has reached out and helped lots of people, too. So I believe that Tiffany will be a great addition to this community!
As for tutorials, sometimes novices want a helping hand who shows A-to-Z how to do things, all in one place, instead of having to go to forums, find different people's articles, etc., to piece it all together. Sometimes that's what it takes to get a newbie off dead center to actually DO something! Tiffany's Squidoo ebook was the hand-holding that got me going there... and experience on that venue gave me the "courage" to come to Hubpages when I learned about it. So I fervently believe there is a value and a place for such things.
Hi Lissie
Just wondered how you decided on your 3 "trusted" internet marketers.
GerryM
This Hub has some helpful advice. We are relative newcomers to Hubpages, and are still experimenting. It has been fun to write on different topics, and we have been impressed with how helpful other contributors have been. We have our own website, and the things we have learned on Hubpages have (we think) improved the quality of our site. Also, it has improved our web 'presence'.
I guess it would have made quite a difference if I'd read your hub before I joined up . Thanx 4 the advice .
By the way , I only got around to squidoo after I joined hubpages . It felt like I was taking a step backwards , and I deleted the lens , moving the content back here .
Great page! Glad to see so many people get on board with Blogger Unleashed soon we will all make money online
Very good information! I think that a lot of internet marketers become so overwhlemed in 'becoming rich' and 'making money' that they forget what Internet marketing is about and that is establishing relationships. You can not make any monety, anywhere, be it from home or at an office without being sociable. That being said, hub pages is a social site. They should enjoy the time that they have here and establish key relationships with the hubbers out there. Hey! you would probably learn a lot more!
Kudos on this hub! You get a thumbs up from me!
If only there were more people like you who tell it straight and are not out to make a fast buck ! Thanks for being honest !
Robert
I enjoyed this hub eventhough I already knew the info but I read it to see if you knew something I didn't know. Great Job! would appreciate it if you checked out my published materials.
Lissie,
Good for you. I have not bothered getting involved in the current internet marketers mutual masturbation thread in the forums, and noticed the latest one got shut down by Maddie before it got too silly.
Great hub. I hope you do well with it. I for one am sick to death of these "Internet marketing experts," including the one you alluded to.
There is nothing wrong with making money online, but making money from people who are desperate to make money online is a completely bullshit way of doing it. Maybe we can't get rid of all of them, but if your hub persuades one person to do it the ethical way, it will have worked.
Go get 'em. :)
I have been an online marketer for years and I agree with Lissie and Kay, I dislike a lot of the ebooks out there because they are to spammy and really don't contain a lot of good content.Hubpages offers a community of good writers who are contributing a lot of great content and best of all for free.
I will try this again, I agree with Kay
Great advice!
Great Hub!
I did alot of research into SEO about two years ago, but as we all know - the game changes weekly, if not daily. I am still getting into the swing of things, but am trying to re-learn as much as I can.
Your hub and similar ones have given me a completely different outlook pertaining to publishing for the web. More often than not, giving something away for free becomes much more beneficial that charging even a modest fee.
I freely give out advice. As a consultant, that is not always a good thing (as my wife tends to point out), but I still enjoy helping others get a step ahead. I think that Hubpages will give become a great venue through wich I will be able to help others, and in turn, maybe help myself!
Hi Lizzie,
guess you must be somewherebetween Tasmania and Iceland at the moment.Like your Authority Hub on Hubbing for Newbies.Have you anything to say on the rash of
purely photo hubs that contain no content whatsoever?
Here's another person who should get banned ..utilising the name of many U.S. States and tacking on a key word to the hub title that then contains nothing at all about the subject.
I won't identify the hubber just yet but it really makes me want to puke when I go to look at a hub with a topic I am interested in and then another and then another only to find nothing related at all to the title.
Anyone else got views on this? Usually the hubber in question has a completely anonymous profile which always rings alarm bells for me.
Lissie:
Extremely well done story/hub. The high score is definitely justified (94 at the moment).
I'm not entirelty sure why I have a site on hubpages. Would it be nice to make money? Sure! Who doesn't want to make money? I haven't made a dime, but I keep coming back. I get a special thrill when I see that my traffic has jumped since the last time I visited, and I'm sure that my numbers are nothing compared with seasoned pros like you.
One thing I found that was quite interesting was that I got an almost instantaneous bump when I wrote a response to a request. Seems like that's a great way to increase traffic.
Thanks again for the great information.
Jim Henry
Great hub! Every hubber should read this.
Thank Lissie, your hub helpful for me
This would make excellent required reading before joining. An addendum to the TOS perhaps? Nice hub.
I must say Good Job.
Great hub and I agree with jezzbb, it should be read by everyone.
This was a great hub because for one it confirmed that I am doing some things right and two it taught me a few things to try.
I have only been mildly successfull making money online but I haven't really tried. I think I can be successful because my whole life I was a repository of info. Friends would say I wish I could find . . . and I would show them where to get . . . or something close to it, whther it was a friend, an object, a service, etc. HOw to leverage that inot earning money I'm stil working on but I definitely have no interest in inauthentic attempts. Thanks for reminding us not everyone is a scammer.
Lissie, thanks so much for the great hub! I know of a few new hubbers who will definately benefit from your knowledge 0 myself included.
Awesome job, it was really helpful.
Great hub. I am not here to promote myself either. I write about scams hoping to save others from getting caught. Honestly, I had never considered utilizing the other text boxes. Thanks. This is well worth reading again.~jennifer
Great info here! i just learned a lot about hubpages. Thanks for sharing this helpful info.
Hi Lissie, this is great info as I've joined and still trying to work out my hubpage and design... Thanks for a great overview though.
Excellent hub!

This is a very good lens.. If you always write like this you shouldn't have so much problem making a living out of Internet Marketing. Especially article and blog marketing.. it is a free method, and can bring in loads of money !
Dear Lissie,
it took me quite a while to read this rich HUB of Yours, but it was so nice and worthwhile. I could also say, that I know you much better as a person, now. I like your 'direct and open attitude' and especially, I like your 'sharp tongue - pen'. I totally share your view about blogging, selling eBooks, selling 'expert IM knowledge', even though, one is not expert at all. I've started more intensively with IM in August 07 and I am still learning about it, very eagerly. It is nice, how with time, I was getting more and more confident about the topic, even though, sometimes totally confused for a short time.
A great knowledge and personal experience is hidden in your hub and I am truly grateful for sharing it with us, here.
I am brand spanking new here and this is the first Hub I have read. I am really glad I did. Thanks for the great info.
This is great advice for a newbie. Thank you!
NSister
thank you.
The scenario you describe reminds me of what happens when a newbie comes roaring into an internet dating chatroom under the assumption that everyone in the chatroom must naturally be there to hook up randomly with the next overeager male member.. lol
Though i am here to learn and contribute, i'm also hoping to make some money and it's helpful to read your advise that sets the tone and gives insight .
thank you and take care
I don't know how I i ended up reading your hub but I am glad that I did.
It's hard to find good information or something interesting to read. You certainly qualify for the latter and I am investigating the former as far as your refferals.
I enjoyed reading your hub and it reminds me to look for hubs written by people who still have respect for the (King's english or is the Queen's english?).
Congratulations on the high ratings on hubpages. You deserve it. Best Regards
Dear Lissie,
Thank you for such a rich article.
Enjoyed your hub.. thanks.
Marvin
perfect resource especially for begginers. Congrats for a well done hub.
Lissie - some great advice for everyone here. You prompted me to input my location which I previously withheld.
Double congratulations for your profile in the weekly HubPages newsletter - most intersting!
I am new here and appreciate the information! Thanks! I am off to find a picture:)
Lissie,
This hub is very informative. Thank you for the advice on using HubPages.
It's always interesting and rewarding learning from you.
God bless you!
nice advice dude
Nice, there seems to be many types of websites claiming to make money but this one seems quite nice. I might even join it. I have read great reviews about it.
Very informative hub!
Thanks for the advice, Lissie. I'm new to this biz of writing on line and don't have a lot of time to explore. Glad you're there exploring for me.
Nice hub! Bottom line web 2.0 is the wave of the future. Inorder to succeed and survive today, no marketer can survive without having knowledge of exisiting marketing platforms! truly, internet marketing for financial freedom!
P.s. I prefer hub pages because they allow you to offer value...i find squidoos to be very affiliate oriented! Great Hub, Great Content!
Thanks. I'm pretty new at this. Your information has helped.
Hub pages are certainly part of the mix to ensure your presence on the internet!
Your caveats and concerns reminds me of the "old days" of the internet when ANY KIND of money making schemes through the web were frowned on and in fact some people were spammmmed by loyalists to keep the web clean from commerce. We went into a cycle when it seemed that ideal was swept aside and super spammy/junky websites appeared with no thought in content, just money. Now I see some of the old concepts come back where reputation, information providing and other sharing aspects become more inportant. Now it it just may happen that you sell something as well related to the information you are sharing, but you are not pushing people to buy a product as they walk accross the threshold of your domain. Here here for your valuable thoughts!

Dexter

Very informative hub Lizzie. Hubpages is really easier to use as compared to squidoo.
Really like your Hub. I found Vic, Court & Griz a couple of months ago, and I'm so glad I did.
They have cleared the cobwebs & totally demystified the whole IM game for me. Formerly, I was easy prey to every guru product launch that promised it would show me how to make money.
Now under the tutelage of the "Big 3" I have faith that I can make this thing work.
I'm especially excited over Vic's ideas on local niche marketing. I've even started a lens about it at Squidoo.

Hi Lissie, I came across HubPages just over a week ago and not being very informed about HubPages managed to get to prodigy status in one day, in fact so happy with it I wrote a hub on how I thought I got there http://hubpages.com/hub/Up-to-Prodify-in-a-day-on-
Your article is very informative and may help me progress even more, after getting to prodigy on the first day I don't seem to be able to budge above 93!
Great information, Lissie!
Though I joined here 5 months ago, I really just started using this as a resource and really appreciate any info which helps me "wrap my head around" how this all works. :)
Thanks Lissie! Great info. I'm just checking out the 3 blogs you have linked to.I like what you are saying about the "big names" in internet marketing.
In my opinion, there are many "big names" in IM out there that are claiming to make a lot of money (often showing a print screen as proof) and then they're selling you their "big secret". However, they make most of their money with a huge list that they have built over the years. And that's something you can't copy within 24 hours.
This information has been very helpful in answering a number of my questions. :Great Job! Thanks
Lizzie,
What a great hub,an as Mark Knowles says: I agree with every thing he has said.
I read one of your commentors said how long to read .
My comment took twice as long as I read all the comments. Some times they give some excellent advice.
Yesterday I joined the new Ebay Partners. Not particulary worried whether I earn their 20Cents. to date I have not strived to earn any money. One day maybe.
Tell me as I am a complete stranger to Computer talk what does all those letters telling all of us from where you are. Now I can not find them. I am a little slow.
Again thanks for your valuable information.
I read 90% of your hubs and 99% are magic.
thank you
A minor comment about your Croc. Last night there was a talk subject on Television interviewing a producer on a new adventure story.
They could not aford to go to the Northern Territory to film the whole Film.
They went up there shot a couple of photos of two large crocs and then did all the action shots of the film in a suburb of sydney.
May be if I could remember his name or even the channel, we were on I will tell him about yours, as it was bigger.
Again thank you
Interesting views all. Helpful for us newbies. I have been in the same trade (auto body repair) for 30 years. We have discussion boards and they are helpful. This whole concept of Hubbing is cool.
Thanks for the insight.
Very very good Hub Lissie. Thanks for all the helpful information-
Well, since I just joined a few hours ago, and read your article before I even wrote my first hub, I feel definitely enlightened!
I'm just glad I read this first. You laid it all out for me. Thanks Lissie.
Hy Lissy
Liked your Hub, thumbs up.
I just signed in to HP after several month in Internet Marketing, and as a Member from the Wealthy Affiliates. We learn that Article Marketing, Squidoo, Hubpages etc. are a great way to work online, and ultimately to make money.
I'm sorry that you haven't made any money yet, but I'm sure you will get there with a little guidance. I make more or less. I'm not yet where I would like to be, but I will reach my goal.
What makes me always a little bit sad is the accusation of spamming. I understand the folks who are looking at a page overloaded with affiliate links, then they are right. But this page will not make any money so the person who made it has not that much experience about how IM works.
I think about people like me and you who try to make a living online, and work hard for this. We research a lot, build websites, select products and try to offer for people some products to help them with something. I think that's noble, and the accusation to be a spammer heart me always a little. But that's life.
Again, great Hub, I still need to make my first and will use your information for sure to not get flagged right away.
Greetings from Brasil
G.
Lissie, Thanks for the great information. I'm new to HubPages and needed to learn quickly. I hope to post my first HubPage soon.
Wow - what a lot of comments - you can tell pretty quickly the value of something when so many people have thanked you for it!
Anyway, I really appreciate this article - it's written so straightforwardly and there's some great advice in here for people wanting to create a presence in HubPages.
Cheers, Dan.
Hi Lissie,
I selected your hub based on your high hub score in comparison to others addressing the same subject. I enjoyed the enthusiasm evident in your writing. Your Hub does a good job of summarizing and organizing some vital information about Internet marketing and especially Hubpages, but it stands out more so because it's honest and full of spirit.
Good luck with career and I hope to read more of your Huns in the future.
Gidgety (aka Tanna)
Really great hub Lissie, thanks for all the much needed info.
Nice post. I just finished reading everything Grizzly has posted yesterday and came to check out hubpages and found yours. I don't have a picture of me up yet, but I'll try and remedy that later today. I'm going to try to give back a little with my hubpage as well. It's nice to help each other out I think even though nobody will share ALL their secrets. Helping point someone in the right direction at least feels good.
Thank you for the assistance. I'm a newbie and only have 3 articles up. Trying to learn as much from the community as possible.
Best wishes!
Pam
I just wanted to say thanks for a very informative article, which has helped a new starter a lot
Sam
Has a young couple from England with us the last five days and left this morning.
They have been travelling for six months and another 6 months to go. Been in austrlaia for three weeks and still have not seen a a croc. I showed therm your one and they did not think they wanted to get any closer.
Hi Lissie:
I am new to HubPages and I have not started a Hub. I really enjoyed your information.
It really is very helpful....especially for a newbie :)))
All the best, Laurie
Wonderful page! I literally joined less than two hours ago, so I really am trying to figure all of this out. Your writing was very helpful and informative! I think I'm ready to go check out the forums.
A very useful Hub (specially for a newbie like me!). I'm looking forward to a great future with Hubpages and the help you give here.
Thanks Lissie for such a great hub, I actually read it twice. Very informative, also encouraging me to write about other topics that I am interested in researching. Your hub was really educational, they always say content is king, and yours truly is!
Lissie: Very good Hub. I am new to HubPages and your information was very helpful. I am sure it would be good to come back and re-resd it a few times, as you have a lot of information in it. Appreciate it very much. David
Wow, so many comments. I had to scroll......down to put mine. Congrats! Believe me or not this is the first hub I read after my first ever visit to hubpages and signing up. I am lucky to have read your hub before I started writing. I agree with you that it is a community first whether you use it for profit or not. We need money and we also need to enjoy life. Great writing.
This is all new to me and I finad that I'm in over my head at times.
Good advice and I am glad that you took the time to share "with the class".
This post provides alot of guides and advises for beginners like us. You are definitely a good role model for all hubbers ;-)
Hey Lissie Fantastic Hub keep it coming every bit of information helps
Great hub. I joined HubPages about 3 weeks ago because I like write (babble?) and I like to create websites. Writing a hub is like creating a mini website. It's great. I've just recently been turned on to the fact that we can money, too - by fellow hubbers, and I was especially jazzed that we could ad videos to our hubs. I even added one that I made all by me onesies! It has nothing to do with my profile, but that's ok... it's my profile! I just got a new computer with Vista and I'm having a blast with it.
Thanks, Lissie, for all the no-bull info on internet marketing. Hope I can put it to good use.
Thanks, Lissie. Your article helped me get a better grip on the whole Hubbing thing. I am new, and need all the help I can get.
Hi Lissie,
re point #8 in your excellent hub about not getting banned from hubpages, in which you state
"Your profile shows that you joined 2 hours ago and that this is your first forum post - why would I care about your hub"
So - are you implying that I, as a new hubpages member, should not be posting to the forums?
And that because I'm new here, nobody would interested in what I have to say?
I can understand that as a new member here, I have to pay my dues, and earn credibility.
But to say that by participating in forums as a new member, I'll be increasing my chances of being banned sounds wierd to me.
Perhaps I've misunderstood. Please clarify if this is the case.
Cheers, Eric G.
OK, thanks for clarifying that.
My apologies for not reading your post thoroughly enough :-)
All hubbers should read this hub...I learned a lot from it! Thanks Lissie
Excellent, excellent, excellent! I've been quietly watching things in the IM world for a while now. It's a vicious, dog-eat-dog world out there sometimes. I rather like the nature of Hub Pages, and feel protective of this environment. I don't want HP to become another resource overtaken by Internet Marketers. If it does, it would be no more fun for me, that's for sure. Thanks for the great info here, Lissie!
Very educational Lissie. It helps me trying to improve my Page Rank.
Thanks. Sione
Very thorough info about Hub pages and Im, thanks! Will check out the 3 blogs next....
This is a great post, I came to Hubpages to promote my other sites and affiliate programs but quickly learned and I have change completely. All I am thinknig of doing now is writing great content as I love the hubpages community and proud to be in it.
Good advice! I appreaciate for it. I just join hub page.. I like it.. is like social community site.. Great!
Hi Lissie,
What a great hub. I came to HP via Squidoo and still do lenses.
Tiffany Dow has been very helpful and has come alongside to hold your hand when necessary. Another person who has helped in Squidoo is Fluffanutta. He is great at programming various bits to make things work better.
Keep up the good work.
Blessings.
You are so right even though I have been frustrated and had articles banned innocently on this site, because I copied and pasted my own articles – and they were pre-formatted or ( in the beginning) I had the link to my website at the bottom of my article… I think those that are only out to make a buck and don’t genuinely care about the people involved on the other side of the computer screen cannot make it on sites such as hubpages and that is a good thing! Thanks so much for keeping it real…
Great Hub, I've had some hubs banned just goes with learning the rules, even when you think you know them...LOL
It's clear why your rating for this hub is at 100. I very much appreciate your experienced view and extremely useful information. I've just joined Hubpages a couple of days ago and am enjoying poking around the community. Thanks for this great Hub.
very informative article . Thanx for clearing some of enquiries in one go.Nice Hub
Excelletn advice and brutally honest. That's probably what makes it so valuable. I look forward to reading many more hubs from you!
One of the most informative Hubs I've read! Excellent advice!
Awesome advice, and so needed, thanks! I'm so glad HubPages has the rules in place that they do. I've been to Squidoo, but it just doesn't seem as friendly somehow, and I've just had it up to my earlobes with affiliate marketing scams. Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing this article. I am a newbie and your article makes alot of sense. I will apply your advice!
Excellent Hub you've created here, Lissie. Thank you for creating this tutorial. Last night I decided I'm going to focus on creating an income by writing quality articles for HubPages, so I couldn't have picked a better time to read your tutorial.
I'm an affiliate marketer and I agree with your comments re: guru internet marketers. The majority of the stuff written by the "usual suspects" can be found for free in a good forum or blog. Thanks again for creating this tutorial. You've earned another fan :-)
Hey Lissie, thanks for this info. I'm a newbie to hubs, so found your advice very helpful. It's good to know at the start how to do it the right way.
Lissie,
Great explanations of hubpages. I have only used blogspot and wordpress so will try this. I also can relate about the IM vs job situation- I re-started a job last summer after doing well on IM for a while and it is really a conflict. PS Are people using it as a spamfest at hubpages or is it pretty under control. I guess with no follow tags it is safer!
Deb
Thx for another excellent hub concisely written, Lissie. I struggle with understanding some of the traffic and ranking stuff, and your articles always contain some nugget of info that helps clarify things in my simple mind. :)
Hi Lissie,
I have read this hub of yours today and have to say thank you for a great article. I don't make any money at this I came to Hubpages just to write. I followed the hubpages guidelines and seem to be doing O.K but to make money? I do use the three options available there, adsense, amazon and ebay and of course hope to make a few pennies there but your hub has encouraged me to perhaps try a little harder.
Your fan.
Mon.
Some good advice Lissie. I learned a long time ago to emulate the people that were having success. Looking at your Hubscore, it is obvious that you are doing the right things. I joined Hub pages last year but have only recently started been making an effort to improve my Hubscore and write some quality Hubpages. I have published a lot of Squidoo lens and have now turned my attention to Hubpages and have been doing a lot of article marketing. I am threatening to break into the 90's with my Hubscore so I think I am learning.
Very informative, thank you!
Hello Lissie,I'm a newly registered hubber. As of the moment, i don't have an article to promote/contribute yet but do i get flagged as spam if i won't be able to participate for a week or two? Please enlighten me.
Great information Lissie. I like your style of writing and enjoy reading all your articles. I think the diversity is energising! Keep up the good work.
Really good information. You really have built a nice community of fans that appreciates your help! Great job!
Lissie, you have really made this hb very interesting wih rich information and proper suggestions.
Though i am intrested inonline earning but so much site seeing and linkages are some how not pouring enough interest to go for all such because there are cheating and so much enarchy also spread here!
By the way thanks for this kind of posting!

Great hub! So much great information and presented very well, nice job!
Thanks for these tips, I think I will start using squidoo more now.
What a well written and very informative hub you've built here Lissie! You have helped clear up a number of things for me with your contributions.
Oh ya, how nice is it living way over there in Australia?
Thanx for the excellent Hub Liss...

Great information here. I had no idea that the profile was so important! Thanks for the help.
Lissie. Wow. Truly great content. I am very impressed.
Thanks for the helpful information on hubpages and internet marketing.
Very useful Hub! Thank you for sharing. I have a steep learning curve ahead of me but I will get there when others are so gracious to share. Thank you!
Lissie,
Thank you for a great, informative hub. I have only been in internet marketing for a few months. While I am trying to follow the "attraction marketing" philosophy many of the hubs of people I am following still feel like they are too strongly pushing landing pages, etc. I learned several things from your hubpage, much more than just the mechanics of making hubpages work. I will fine tune my strategy, thanks to you!
hubpages has also helped me with my internet marketing.. but I also use stumbleupon to get my lenses promoted. In fact I made a hub about stumbleupon: http://hubpages.com/hub/StumbleUpon/
I realized, the first and only time that I checked out one of these internet maketing "opportunities," that the only way to make money was to sell the scheme to other gullible saps just like me. There's no product or service. Just an empty idea.
Nice work Ms. I am often brought up short by this kind of dedication, especially since you are doing so much for so little. I had once thought about making money on the internet, but got hustled by the tier one people so badly, it completely turned me off. So i write strictly for fun, even though Google has ads on my pages, I did not sign up for them. I enjoyed your stuff. I'll be back to sign up as a fan.
The internet is still like the wild west, or the proverbial box of chocolates, "you never know what you are gonna get." I progress slowly, finally getting my new camera(from Christmas)set up.
Keep up the good work L!

I'm glad to have joined HubPages for one of the same reasons as you...I hate being told to write about one subject!
Thanks for the informative article. I'm going to look at the Flagship section right now and see what it's all about.
I like the ideas and have seen the blog articles very good
Thank-you for the guidance, It takes time for me to get my head wrapped around ideas that are new to me. Your writing skill is certainly something I am envious of. Will be reading your other hubs.
Thanks Lizzie. Great advice. Just a small point to mention. While a lot of people like myself join initially to market, some of us actually start to get a passion for writting and as our hubs increase we find ourselves doing more articles of interest and less marketing. Thanks again for your great contributions
Great Hub, it has helped me alot as an aspiring Hubber.
Cheers!
Hi Lissie, my mission of the day was to find out how Hubpages works and how it can help me and you've answered every single one of my questions - thank you.
Thanks for the answer Lissie, I made my first move and thanks for the welcome!!!
Your hub is very useful. I am still trying to learn the tricks of the trade here. Your hub provides so much helpful information. Sometimes it can be overwhelming when you are just starting out. I really like hubpages, and the way the community is supportive of each other. Encouraging the writers, whether they be novice or pro's. Everyone is welcome, it is a great place to be. Great article!
Hi Lissie, I appreciate you taking the time to cover in a concise way the mechanics of how hub pages work. I am very new and have figured some things out. However your hub reinforced what I kind of thought and introduced knowledge that I did not currently have. I am a BANS user (4months) with modest success and it is my intent to read your other articles in an attempt to improve. Thank you for sharing your experiences they have proven to be of great value to me.
Thank you for this article. It was easy to read and understand. I learned a lot.
I am relative new to the community. Your hub has answered a lot of questions especially the one about the meaning of the two hub scores. I looked several places - forum and topics and could not find it. I probably didn't look long enough, however; I found your hubpage. I certainly look forward to reading more of your hubs - thanks!
Lots of Great information on creating Hubs, I will refer to this page a lot. I just started writing some of my own hubs and I think its pretty cool. I never really like to write but I getting more interest in it. One of my friends refered my and she is doing ok with this. My goal is 72 hubs before the end of the year. I will do the best on each one and promise unique content. I think hubpages does good with google one of my hubs came up number one on google just the after the first day of publishing it. Thanks for the Info, it helps muncho!
Wow, what a great and helpful post. I sincerely appreciate the information
Your Hub is very informational. I will have to go back over my hubs to see if I have broken ant of the rules.I see you have a lot of expertise on writing. You can surely write a lot.good work. I will have to experiment with the bacl links too.
Very well written and informative for a new user such as myself. Thanks for all of the great information.
You have written well. Infact it explanatory enough to understand.
well said. All my questions are answered here. im enlightened and know now what to do.Thank you very much. You have been helpful.
Great advice on hub writing. I appreciate you sharing what works for you.
This is a very informative peice of information. Was this one of the "flagship" hubs or was this something you wrote as an educational tool? Just curious...
I'm late to the party on this one, but damn this was a good read :)
Thanks for the info. It's very helpful as I'm preparing to start updating the HubPages I have up.
Thanks Lizzie for the tips. I'm beginning to get a feel for how strong the community is here. That's a nice change of pace!
Great Article, It clears ceratin doubts that was in my mind.
All very good tips. I'll probably never see the forum, but I like the info about where the AdSense falls. I never even thought about that.
Hi Lissie
What a fantastic hub! Thanks for sharing it with us all :)
I look forward to reading more of your hubs.
Regards,
Kylie Doak
Lissie - I don't know what to set the Ads setttings to. What are your recommendations?
Thanks other wise for the great post.
Lissie - Thanks for the great post. I don't know what to set the Ads setttings to. What are your recommendations?
Very educational! Thank you. Good stuff for me when I finally launch my own hub(s)...
You bring up alot of good points. It is true there is some pretty bad hubs writen by people just pushing garbage. But with every system you will have that. I beleive they do a good job of cleaning the bad stuff up and using common sense when decding if a hub is to promotional.
You are right, there is so much junk out there as anyone who is serious about earning online from the many things always at some point get passed or redirected to sites with just plain affiliate links and that's it!
Also the common theme that I see is that most marketers assume that everyone is a lazy f-ker and would just rather pay for a collection of information or a list of contacts, which could be true, but what are they really paying for? Some research and common sense must be applied by anyone wishing to make any money online with regards to any earning programs or guides.
Anyway great hub once again and a starting point for anyone new to hub pages can find some answers here!
Great Hub here. I'm still trying to figure out how to make a decent amount of money online. I found that doing a little here and a little there all adds up. Not just having hubpages, but some webpages, marketing affiliate sites, etc. A few bucks each here and there sure do add up.
Whew, Lissie! What a relief! At last someone online who can explain something decently.
Being a newbie, I found your essay very informative indeed.
I would be much obliged if you could clear a doubt in my mind. Well, can I use the links capsule to point to my other hubs? If the answer is yes, will not the "same-domain" principal apply here? I mean, can I point to more than one hub of mine or someone else's?
Thanks Lissie, thanks for your response!
Thanks for this informative hubs AGAIN Lissie. I always enjoy reading your hubs and i really learn a lot from them. I am your royal hub reader.
Wow Lissie! Thanks for the great info. I was a cyber clutz trying to figure this thing out. Keep up the good work. Thanks! Gods Blessings, Anthony
Wonderful Hub! Power packed with Information.
Hey Lissie,
Very nice Hub and some excellent information. I think Hub Pages draws a different kind of folk, one that loves the ease and simplicity of sharing their thoughts, knowledge and experiences with others, at least that is what I have seen a lot of.
Sometimes I think people almost forget that there really is a community here, like Squidoo and other sites. But I find that Hub Pages has a much more diverse community, willing to share ideas, help others and take interest in what others are doing and that is why I think people like it so much.
For me, both Hub Pages and Squidoo are fun and each have thier good and bad sides but overall I think using both can be very benecial.
Thanks Lissie, always love reading your hubs.
Mike Witt
Hi Lissie,
Thanks for the fantastic insight. It is definitely a benefit for any of us Hub newbies.
Great Hub,
Jim Hickey
Thank you, Lissie! You have probably saved me at least a year of research on hubpages forum trying to figure out things. I am one of those scammed, slammed, banged-up trying to figure out how to do anything with IM. I have probably spent more money and hours trying to learn how it works that I should be ashamed to admit it. So, I received quite an education from this one article and it's links.
I have only been on hp for a few months and I have been so caught up in trying to figure out how everything goes together and what I can or cannot advertise that I haven't been doing the writing that I wanted to do.
Thank you again. Your article is very much appreciated by me. Helpful isn't a good enough word as far as I am concerned. You have also cleared up what I can do as a writer online. I am new to that, too!
They won't let me give you but one thumbs up on this article, but I can thumbs up ever hublink you have within this article... =o). I plan on reading a lot more of your articles, too!
Thanks a million! =o)
Karen
Thx Lissie.... awesome hub... You saved me a lot of time with this hub. It already answered a lot of questions I had. thx again
Richard
wow my head is spinning. you are so knowledgable about marketing! I'm new to this and it's very informative with real information, not theory!
I'm checking this tips out.thanks
Great hub Lissie. A good hub to re-read from time to time for sure!!
Wow; Excellent writing. Thanks for writing such a gr8 hub
Thank you - this is a great hub and I'm glad I found it in time. I don't think I would have got any of my hubs banned, but the tips about the scores were very useful to me.
Great info on Hub. I should have read this my first week! Now my score is 86 and hovering there. Funny, I submitted 57 hubs and only 86. I took heart and now am more active, leave comments, join fan clubs and soon will be redoing all the old article key words that didn't work. You learn, make mistakes and learn some more. I have a business I want to share, but notice alot of articles are on personal growth, health, travel, etc. All I like, but wanted focus. Maybe not after reading this.
Judy Cullins, www.bookcoaching.com
Hey wonderful Lissie,
wow!!!! what a splendid info, that's very fantastic ...Funny.. am very happy that i found an informative and Educative info that i ever looked for...am just joing these wonderful Hub which i think it will surely gives me the directions to take on the right path of achieving a goal...
I am new to Hubpages (just joined today), and I found this article very useful - thanks : )
Its very interesting hub. Thanks for sharing this internet marketing in hubpages.
Thanks! Number 6 was particulary helpful to me as I wrote a couple of articles but have not published them on HubPages because they didn't look like I wanted them to. Now I know to use several text capsules to get what I want. Good info. Thanks again!
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am just getting started on hubpages and so far, I'm enjoying it. I will take your suggestions to heart.
thanks lissie, very informative , I am new here to hubpages , the wealth of onformation is invaluable , thanks again lissie
Hi Lissie...to echo all the praise above...excellent information...so thank you! As I was reading your Hub, I couldn't help but wonder how you were able to get the grey boxes to the right of your text...the ones with your blog or other links.
Looking forward to reading more of your writing!
Until next time...Annie
Great information Lissie, Thank You! Now, do you have a HUB on how to get everything caught up IRL so I can just work on Hubs and IM projects? :0)
I'll be re-reading your suggestions and doing some editing I think!
Lissie,
Excellent hub! Great points about not being self-promoting in your hubs. Add to the community and good things will come to you.
Hi LIssie,
Great information, especially for a newbie Hub author.
Thanks
I found your hub very informative. Thank you!
Thank you for making this information available to a newbie like myself. Much appreciated!
Nice informative post. I've been looking around for information on when links go dofollow and finally found it here. Thansk for that info. I like sites like this that allow internet marketing as long as you follow the rules. Internet marketers are not evil.
Great Information Lissie. This paints a good picture about hub pages and what they are for.
Great article. I've been a member of Hubpages for a while but I've yet to publish a hub. At least now I know how to do it right! thanks!
For someone who has "so far failed to make any significant money (online)" you sure know how to put together a great hub. Very useful information here, nice work. I think there are many who have tried to 'make it' and been taken by those more fortunate.
Thanks for keeping it real, and adding real value.
Hi Lissie!
Great advice! I am new here and hope I didn't read your page to late. I will be keeping an eye out for anything you write! Thank you so much for all of your unparrelled advice!
Susie
HubPages for Internet Marketing offers good advice and tips! Thanks Lissie, I just publish my first HubPage. I have a clearer understanding of the HubPage rules, the HubPage and Profile scores and the pitfalls to avoid.
I ,also, gain additional information on the layout of Hubs from reading the comments. Great visitors comments and social interaction here on your Hub.
great hub Lissie - thanks for the help.
This was a very informal hub. Thank you for sharing this information. I am very new to Hub and I try to post two hubs a night. Please continue doing what you are doing.
Thank you! I'm relatively new to the internet and I have set my sights on making a living online. If I had read your hubs at the outset of my journey, I would have saved money, time, and fingernails!
Thank you! I'm relatively new to the internet and I have set my sights on making a living online. If I had read your hubs at the outset of my journey, I would have saved money, time, and fingernails!
Yeahhhh thanks this was very helpful and answered some questionf for this newbie hubber. Cheers!
Lissie, this hub is great!!! A lot has been explained. You are right about some people on the Internet taking advantage of newbies especially. I myself got duped already...oh well, live and learn. Thank you for all of this great info!!!
Hey, I found another hub that really helped me out. This is great info. If you got more facts to help us newbies out. Keep it coming.
Thak you very much for all this info! It will be used wisely!
Great information Lizzie, thank you!
Lissie, You Rock Girl.. dang! Awesome site. Hey if you check out my hub I can guarantee ya' it's on a subject you haven't seen before. I am in the 70's and been in the 80's before... so I am gettin' there, but definitely will apply the information I learned on your "most awesome blog". Great work...
Hi Lissie
Excellent, informative and supportive hub. Thank you!
I noticed that there is no indciation of when a hub was published under its title. Is there is a reason for it?
I think a date is important in context of the article. If the hub is about high paying keywords for example, that is a time sensitive issue. The comments are dated, as 9 months ago, 3 days ago, but it doesnt indicate the date of publication.
Do you think we should add the date into the hub somewhere?
Thanks
Karen
I want to thank you for such an insightful HUB, you've actually helped in preventing me from making some foolish mistakes here.
I appreciate that.
Take care,
David D. Ju'Don
Great article, you see i'm a online busines builder rookie i can say! I know there a lot of profits over the online seling market! Now after i read your Hub i understand a lot ,i learn some new things from here! I got a new Hub made some days ago and hope to see some trafic on it! But with your points of view ...im sure i'll make it work!
Great job again!
Nice thoughts going into this. But here's a quick question. In the long run, which is better? Put your articles up just on hubpages or on your blog? Is there a point to exclusive posting of articles or should I put my articles up on as many of such sites as possible?
I'm new to Hubpages and find your Hub very helpful. I'm a writer (a good one probably not) [See, I told you!]) Joking aside, I'm now semi-retired from an unrelated field and am trying to find a way to take advantage of my love of writing, and earn a little in the process. I've shot off just 4 hubs so far...more of a test (of my knowledge of the system) than anything else. I keep reading all of the hubs like yours that I can to learn more. At any rate, THANKS an keep up the good work!
Lissie
Well done on a fantastic article. I must look into how to publish in two columns - have written quite a few hubs but never realised you could do that.
Thanks again - very well written indeed
Very informative hub. I am glad I read this I don't want to start on the wrong foot before I am able to make some thing of this. Thank you
Wow Lissie- I just learned more in the ten minutes it took me to read this hub, than I have since I began a week ago! Thank you so much- I will keep all this in mind for the future!
Excellent information and direction...Thanks for all the insight and links to check out; especially BANS...
Wow! I thought I would not get my chance to commend you on all of the good advice. I have been on HP for about 5 weeks and produced up to 100 articles. One hubber said that I was prolific. HP has me labeled as expert which I appreciate. What I appreciate more is your willingness to share your year's experience at HubPages with people unfamiliar with blogging.
Also, I appreciate that you wrote such a great hub because scrolling down to my turn to comment, got me to reading helpful and useful information. I am a sincere writer and do not fear being banned and have never embedded domain names in my content.
I am curious about the two column writing. The information you supplied, Lissie, was very useful. I have to narrow down my columns for easy reading instead of presenting my work to HP like a thesis. I also have to improve on the commenting part of blogging and as one of the commenters said HP is a social network as well and goes a long ways to increase Hub traffic.
Thank you, Lissie. for your free course on Hubpages and I shall look you up when I see you back in the community. There are now over 490,000 Hubbers and about 120,000 writers so there are plenty of readers on the website to flourich. I have a blogging site courtesy of Google at www.merchandisingselections.blogspot.com that I am getting up and running. All are welcome.
Lissie, I saw that you were a fan of Griz and he of you. I've been following him quite a bit of late and came over here.
So far I've read two of your Hubpages and both have been excellent. Keep up the good work.
It would be nice to see more info on Hubbing and SEO.
As Always, Lissie,
You offer sound, no-nonsense advice that gets to the heart of things, delivered in a conversational tone that helps readers to identify with you and with writing in general. Well done. A wealth of usable and workable tips.
I know what you mean about the fold. I now always create Hubs with a couple of text boxes. After reading about how to craft Flagship Hubs, I try to apply these same principles when creating Hubs. I've seen a big difference in earnings and views, as a result.
Basically, be cool try to participate in discussion , write hub which you feel passionate about everything will be alright, but do not try to promote your product or services directly.
Hi Lissie,
I`m a Grizz reader and find your nice hub.
Thanks for sharing that good info.
Cumps.
Lissie: I discovered you through a search for an explanation of the red numbers in the hubs. I'm only a few days old here with three hubs to date, but a list of possible topics for the future a mile long. Thanks for your explanation of what I wanted to know. (As you can see, I'm taking your advice and posting a comment.) Thanks, Lissie.
Hi Lissie, brilliant, brilliant artcile. I'm relatively new to hubs, had worked most of it out, but found some absolute gems in this article. Very much appreicated and have passed it on to a few interested parties.
Thanks again
Derek
Very helpful post Lissie. I've only signed up for Hubpages a few days ago so I am still learning. I agree that it is easy to create a hub (as you yourself write) but writing a hub in the best possible way is not quite as easy. And that is why I appreciate this hub as it has provided me with a better picture of what is important when creating new hubs. So now I'm off to figure out how to insert pictures into text capsules as well as to find out whether it is possible to take an existing hub from a one column layout to a 2 column.
Thanks,
Mikael
Hey there Lissie! hubpages is almost similar but not quite to Squidoo. It is a great platform to promote your site and your niche. Also it is easier to use compared to squidoo but the modules or capsule are a bit limited compared to Squidoo.
Hey Lissie...very informative hub, specially for someone who is new here like me.
Hi Lissie thank you for your very informative Hub. I signed up 2 years ago but never got going! I need to change that. Thanks again.
Hi Lissie,
I am working on my second hub and I have been looking through yours to get some ideas. I really think the title HubQueen should be bestoed upon thee.
You really missed the boat by not marketing that $49 Hubpages ebook. :-).
Thanks for inspirations.
This is great information for marketers
Wow, I would call your article "quite comprehensive". Thank-you for the excellent review and advice. I hope you increase the income from your efforts, more and more. All the best to you.
Very useful information especially for someone like me who is relatively new to building hubpages.
Thanks for the info, I am just starting out on Hub Pages..got here from Keyword Academy.
Live long and prosper!
Great guide to hubpages for new members like myself, a lot I didnt know, thanks
Actually found hubpages through you, so thanks again!
Very informative - thanks!
Thanks for all the great information! I look forward to reading more of your hubs...
Thanks a bunch Lissie, im relatively new to hubpages and it helped a lot.
Thanks Lissie, I have never been banned from Hubpages but I know tons of people that do get banned. As long as you give goog content, hub pages is a great way to build some backlinks for your site!!
Very informative hub there Lissie! WAY 2 GO!
What an interesting and informative hub Lissie...I'm pretty sure many internet marketers found your hub helpful ^^
Hi Lissie great hub for anyone wanting to get into marketing...
Wow that was impressive. Great article and, as the comments shows, of best quality. I guess I spent over 20 minutes here. Ok, it's time for a cofee break time now. :)
Great article! I have so much to learn about Hubs, and you just taught me so much. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for your wonderful hub which assist me what to be do and not to do while creating the Hub. This is the first time i am going to create a hub. This information will helps the beginer to create hub without any penalization. Thanks a lot.
This was interesting and fun. I don't know why someone would share information for hubpages for money selling an ebook. Informations like these are everywhere FAQ, other hubs and even outside hubpages. So why pay for it?
I'm glad to see honest words here. Good Hub.
I finaly got my Maverick money makers hub on the first position on Google. I don't know what I did but .... there it is :D
I know 1000 ways to make no money online. The secret is most of the money making tasks or boring and most of the entertaining tasks don't make you any money. This is true in real life business also.
Wow Lissie, what an interesting hub and what an amazing response you're getting!
I just started with Hubpages a few days ago. I'm really glad that I found this hub. Thanks for the great advice, you've saved me a lot of head scratching and pain.
Great work. Good hub. Found it very informative.
This hub had just the info I was looking for. Thanks.
Wow congrats Lissie! You deserved to get a lot of comments to your informative and honest hub entry. I was tryin to look how to prevent being banned from this site. Thank you very much for the information! :)
Thank you. This was informative. I'm new and flailing around like a bull in a china shop and this hub is helping me figure out which way is up.
S
Definitely a great post. Hopefully this helps me understand a lot of about marketing on Hubpages. Thanks!
This is a really great article Lissie. :D
Fellow Hubber,
Sandra
Thanks for all the info on the hub pages Lissie. I have been trolling around on Grizz's blog for quite a while and this was the first time I came across his link for this hub.
Hello, Lissie
It looks like this article is two years old, and still going. Good on you. It gave me very appreciated information as I am new to Hubpages. I joined simply to promote my websites, but fell for the community and an opportunity to get feedback on my writing. I still want to promote my sites, but not at the risk of loosing my Hubpages relationships. Thanks for the info. I'm going to read all you informative articles, and, hopefully, generate an idea or two.
Thanks again,
Tony
Thank you for the very useful information - really helpful for me, just starting out, and one of the first things I read about hubpages.
I know this hub has been around for some time, but wanted to mention my appreciation anyway. Thank you!
Great noobie hub for a noobie like me! :)
How I wish I read your hub before starting a blog.
Me too! Thanks for that very comprehensive and useful hub. I will be following some of those links to read your other work now. Kay

kev.

This was great information. Since I am new to hubbing, I appreciate your no nonsense and straightforward advice.
Wow, you really know your stuff. Great advice. Thanks!
Hi Lissie - you still around ? Now that you've made a few bucks why not try the stockmarket ? Long-term value investing is what I do best ! :-)
Thank you for the nice informations.
I had not a profile picture yet... amd.. just added it... ^_^
followed one of your tips
Good hub.
Thanks for your hub pages, they are amazing and very informative. I am website builder and work for internet marketing, web hosting, web tools, etc.
Great advice. I'm glad to hear someone mentioning variety, rather than a niche...I keep thinking I have to have a niche with my hubs!
Thanks for contributing to my continuous education on hubpages.
Like it!
Well, I always find that hubpages is much much easier to setup as compare to Squidoo. Both are the same web 2.0 platform and serve the same purpose of link building and driving traffic. The former is straight forward and easier for first timer.
Hi Lissie,
I'm very new in hubpages. Your "hubpages internet marketing" throw me away.
I though only can use one capsule.
Thanks for your great sharing.
I have just learn something from this hub lissie! Just keep informing us. Thanks!
Thank you so much for the advice. I've only been here for about 2 months so I am still learning. I plan to read more of your hubs. Thanks again. Hubbers are so helpful.
Awesome hub, I really appreciated the amount of information I could get from this! Keep up the good work!
SEO is quite possibly the most cost effective form of quality internet marketing.
There is so much awesome content here, this rocks
Hi!
Very informative! Actualy I was searching for info to increase my hub score. This hub contributed to my search...
-- Thanks
Can only reiterate what the others have said. Fantastic advice from an expert, thanks.
Hubpages can definitely beat Squidoo as long as awesome hubs like this are published by original writers. Thanks for sharing hope to see more!
Thanks for the great Hub. Really good advice on increasing your hub score. And congrats on all the amazing comments. Looking forward to reading more from you. :)
Great Hubpage. You have put allot effort into it. I pushed the Awesome button, voted it up and am now following you...best regards, Dave
great hub!!!
Great advice!!!
thanx
Thanks for the referral to hub pages Liz! I feel better after reading this knowing my hub scores will increase over time.
I'm a newbie Hubber but I really like it here! Thanks for your tips, suggestions and advice for intelligently using HubPages for IM aspirations.
Great! Just the information I'm looking for. Thanks.
Nice to come across a Hubber who follows the exact same internet marketing sites as I do. The Griz is the best!
Great information and thank you for all of your tips and I know this will help me.
It's quite sad that internet marketing gets such a bad rep. I guess this is due to all the spammers and con artists out there that abuse it. I'd never really thought about using hubpages before as a portal for internet marketing. I'd heard of it, but hadn't really investigated it much. I must say I like the page layout and easy to use nature.
Great advice Lissie. These are some great tips to apply. Thanks a lot.
Thank alot for this great piece of information. When hard work is done there is not reason for doubt or fear. More grease to your elbow.
I find myself stuck educating myself on the Hubpages of Lissie. You are very helpful.
Nice Work,mom !!
Your article is excelent.
Yeah that's what I thought, hubpage won't allow anything with promotional sites, yet people are promoting clickbank and CPA on hubpage. One of my hub has clickbank link and no trouble with it.
Thank you for the great tips. This is a very helpful Hub.
Wonderful hub. It's funny you were talking about the $40.00 ebook teaching how to setup a hubpage account. People do stuff like that al the time and bring it 3-5 figures income monthly. It's sad that they take advantage of people that way.
Great hub! Hubpages isn't very intuitive for me yet, so I'm trying to learn everything I can. Thanks for the advice.
Hi Lissie, What a fantastic Hubpage! You have provided so much valuable information here. Thank you very much. :)
This by far has been one of the best informative and well written hubs explaining the depths of good article writing. Although there is still quite a bit of crap funneling through, but it all pays off when I can read a hub as awesome as this one.
Thank you so much Lissie.
thanks for the info. being new to hubpages it was very helpful.

Good advice, Lissie!
HubPages is just one small part of an overall internet marketing strategy, but it is easy to do it badly and find yourself missing out on the benefits, if not banned altogether.
Let's hope everyone reads your Hub in time to save them from posting duplicate content, spamming the forums, and publishing advertorials!
