Australia Holiday Calendar 2009

Australia's public holidays in 2009 are a mixture of country-wide and local holidays. Australia's holiday calendar is confused with different states having differnet public holidays. Even some shires and cities will have a local holiday for a race day or local event holidays.

The countrywide holidays are the following

11 April Easter Saturday

12 April Easter Sunday

13 April Easter Monday

25 April ANZAC Day (celebrates Australia's war dead, also celebrated in New Zealand) Public holdiay 27 April in WA and ACT

28 December Boxing Day (observed)

I found it a bit of nightmare travelling around Australia MrM - there are so many regional variations: and don't get me started on the day-light saving fiasco in Western Australia lOL

That is alright; Son two has a business on the gold coast. One hour behind us in time. they rell me it keeps the curtains from fading quicker. Could it be true?

Hi. My company just published the holidays for the year 2009 and noted that in NSW, ANZAC which falls on a Saturday is observed on the Saturday and not the following Monday (i.e no day off work). Thought you might like to know to clarify for your NSW readers.

Very true thanks for the heads up - the only Austraian's getting a day off for ANZAC day are WA and ACT resident wen ANZAC is observed on the 27th
